Based on the notion that software tools can contribute to sound, imaginative, and well-organized writing, Writer's Helper offers a collection of unique prewriting activities and revising tools to help students work easily and creatively through the various stages of the writing process. Available in Windows and MAC versions, it includes 19 different Prewriting Activities and 18 different Revising Tools. Highly imaginative, thought-provoking, easy — and even “fun” —Writer's Helper is the perfect escort through the writing process.
NOTE: Each package contains the program disk and user's manual. Separate Instructor's Manuals are available for each version.

Offers activities and tools to help students with the prewriting and revising stages of their writing:
- Students use the Prewriting Activities to find an idea, explore a topic, and organize information for a paper. They can save the ideas and export them to a word processor.
- Students then use the ideas generated in the Prewriting Activities as a framework to write a draft.
- Students then return to Writer's Helper, import the draft from their word processor, and use the Revising Tools to check for usage errors and possible structural defects.

Features 19 Prewriting Activities:
- Find activities (Starters, Idea Wheel, Associations, Questioner, Lists, Brainstorms)—help students choose a subject and view it in different ways.
- Explore activities (Crazy Contrasts, Three Ways of Seeing, Audience, Random Revelations, Connections) — lead students to think about their writing topics in new and interesting ways.
- Organize activities (Trees, Debating an Issue) — help students prepare a structure before they begin to write.
- Allows instructors to modify the questions and prompts in many of the activities, create entirely new activities, or remove any activity.

Offers 18 Revising tools that guide students in finding structural problems and grammatical errors in their writing.
- Structure tools (Outline Document, Paragraph Coherence, Paragraph Development, List by Sentence, Sentence Lengths) —help students assess the need for structural changes.
- Audience tools (Diction Level, Transitions, Prepositions, Readability Index, References, “To Be” Verbs, Sweet or Stuffy?)—guide students to match their writing to the needs of their readers.
- Checks tools (Usage, Homonyms, Gender) — detect errors in word choice, locating such common problems as homonym confusion and sexist language.
