Description
For two-semester courses in Principles of Economics.
This easy-to-read, accessible, macro-first principles text engages students with familiar real-world examples and applications that bring economics to life. The authors follow an Explore and Apply theme that shows students how economics is a part of their everyday lives, and how it can be a useful tool in making personal decisions and evaluating policy decisions. The Enhanced Edition contains more detail and more in-depth coverage of key economic concepts, expanded multiplier coverage, new coverage of crowding out, greater detail on exchange rates, and more extensive treatment of antitrust.
Features
Detailed graphs.
~Helps students understand the shift versus movement in curves, and makes these difficult topics understandable.
Do you incorporate critical thinking and writing in your course in effort to get students analyzing economics in the world today? If so, check out the Explore and Apply Section on Business Ethics in Ch 17 or in virtually any Explore and Apply section.
Current, real-world policy issues or events–Examined in the final section of every chapter under Explore and Apply.

More-detailed graphs —The Enhanced Edition has added more detailed labeling of selected graphs.

Additional Test Bank —A new 3rd Test Bank is now available, which adds additional questions to the already robust preexisting test banks.
~The test bank is written by the authors themselves for continuity with the text.
Chapter 1, The Economic Perspective —Now includes a stronger introduction to the role of government involvement in the economy.
~Students need to understand the role government plays in the economy to have opinions about our government and be educated voters and citizens.
Chapter 3, Demand and Supply —Has been updated to include a more thorough treatment of market demand and how it is derived, including new graphs to make the concepts clearer. In addition, there is now expanded coverage of how surplus and shortage move the market to equilibrium.
~This key concept in economics is now some of the clearest available, and promotes student comprehension in the early stages of the course .
If you like to emphasize Consumer and Producer Surplus with early coverage, take a look at Chapter 4, as well as, pages 79-99 in Ayers and Collinge.
Chapter 4, The Power of Prices —Offers strong and modern coverage of consumer and producer surplus. This chapter also includes coverage of marginal benefit and marginal cost.
~This change strengthens the connection to consumer and producer surplus so that it can be more easily understood.
