A text-independent workbook containing approximately 200 examples and problems organized topically, each simulated by the Interactive Physics Player. The book contains tutorial "what if" questions and explanations in the software. Provides graphic interactive simulation by allowing students to change parameters and observe results. Does not require professional version of Interactive Physics to use (includes "player"). For introductory algebra or calculus-based physics courses.

  • contains 40 Interactive Physics simulation (run-time) files.
    • Students and schools do not have to purchase Interactive Physics, simulations are packaged with a run-time version of Interactive Physics.
  • offers problems of varying degrees of difficulty that are themselves designed to exploit the technology — rather than the usual type of problems with the technology “added on.”
  • provides for each simulation:
    • Physics Review — a brief review of the physics concepts covered in the simulation. Contains associated formulas and lists of key words for further reference to a main text.
    • Simulation Details — most of the information necessary to run the simulation — parameters that can be adjusted and the fixed values of those that cannot.
    • Hints — for doing difficult calculations and predictions.
    • Explanations of results — that go into more specific details relating to the simulation than do the Physics Review sections.
    • Mathematics Help — reviews some mathematics or contains information that makes calculations easier.
    • Specific “hands on” instructions pertaining to the computer simulation — e.g., clicking on buttons, adjusting velocity with a slider, turning on air resistance, changing reference frames, etc.
    • a self-test — true/false or short answer (with answers in the back of the book).
