Discourse Impairments: Assessment and Intervention Applications provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of childhood language disorders to assessment and intervention by analyzing language samples.

The unique feature of this book is the inclusion of more than 20 language samples that students analyze in order to gain an understanding of the symptoms and clinical applications of childhood language disorders. Learning is facilitated by enabling students to actively engage in the material that has been presented.

Each chapter contains an introduction to the section that describes a disorder or clinical issue, assessment and intervention guidelines for each issue, a language sample, and questions about each language samples.

This is the only book in the area of childhood language disorders that offers a broad range of language samples and exercises for students. It enables students to learn material as they address critical features in the area.

  • Language Samples are presented for every topic and illustrate key issues in the symptom, assessment, or intervention of childhood language disorders.
  • Questions are provided for each of the language samples and help the student discover the salient aspects of the language samples and the issue presented.
  • Questions related to assessment and intervention for each sample enhance the students clinical preparation.
  • Introduction sections at the beginning of each chapter cover the symptomatology of childhood language disorders as well as assessment and intervention issues.
