Mathematics

Provides hands-on manipulative-based activities keyed to the text that involve future elementary school teachers discovering concepts, solving problems, and exploring mathematical ideas. These actitives can be adapted for use with elementary students at a later time.

• Each chapter begins with an introduction to the topic, including a quotation from the NCTM Standards.
• Every activity starts with information on the purpose, materials, and grouping required to complete the activity. In addition, many include tips on getting started, show an example, or provide an extension to make the activity more complex. 
• Each chapter concludes with a summary that explains the concepts behind each activity.
• At the end of the manual, there are a number of paper manipulatives that can be cut out and used with the activities. There are also numerous activity masters, making this book useful for pre-service and in-service teachers.
