For courses in AutoCAD for Interior Design.
This richly illustrated book arms interior design students with solid, practical know-how and step-by-step AutoCAD instruction. It is organized around a series of tasks and combines explanations of AutoCAD commands with practical systematic drafting procedures. This edition introduces Architectural Desktop (so students can learn the difference between the two systems), includes a new design project, and offers a new chapter on the reflected ceiling plan and schedule. Its emphasis on professional applications and balance of coverage leaves readers with a set of skills that can be used immediately in school or in the profession.

- Provides detailed step-by-step instructions and examples that are specific to interior design students.
- Emphasizes what an interior designer can do with AutoCAD, rather than on just what AutoCAD can do.
A balance of 2D and 3D coverage–appears throughout the book.
- Discusses simple and more advanced techniques in a meaningful and manageable way.
- Organizes discussion around a series of tasks of creating 2D drawings and schedules, 3d model, and rendered images of a representative interior space.
Project/task-driven tutorial–adds meaningful context to chapter material.
- Explains AutoCAD commands in the context of interior design, making material more relevant to the design student.
New! Chapter 6: Draw the Reflected Ceiling Plan–appears in this edition.
- Covers a common task in interior design and makes the book more complete.
New! Part Two: An Introduction to Architectural Desktop–appears in this edition.
- Introduces Architectural Desktop in reference to AutoCAD and illustrates the differences between the two programs.
- Allows students to explore in a parametric design environment and learn about its power and functionality.
New! Coverage of VIZ Render–appears in this edition.
- Discusses how to improve the quality of the rendered images and create a photo-accurate rendering of the designed space.
- Demonstrates how to use the program to accurately simulate the lighting effect in the interior space.
