This manual replaces the IFSTA Fire Service Ventilation and Forcible Entry manuals and includes valuable information on fire service loss control as it applies to those two disciplines. Written for the advanced firefighter, the tools and techniques discussed in this manual are beyond those discussed in the Essentials of Fire Fighting (4^th edition), and they create an informational bridge to the Company Officer level.

In addition to discussions of fire behavior and size-up that are beyond those discussed in Essentials (4^th edition), this manual also discusses the most current ventilation methods and the most effective forcible entry techniques. The manual also uses numerous case histories as a means of stressing firefighter safety and survival on the fireground. These case histories provide examples of how firefighters have been injured or killed because they did not know or follow the principles and practices recommended in this manual.
