This textbook works to make grammar and punctuation accessible to students. Although traditional terminology is used, activities focus on applying grammatical forms to writing rather than memorizing rules.

  • Emphasizes the application of grammar concepts to the writing of sentences and paragraphs. An introduction to the essay is also included.
  • Flexible organization allows for self- or independent study based on students' individual needs.
  • Chapters are organized such that each chapter builds upon the skills learned in the previous one.
  • Introduces standard terminology, but encourages students to paraphrase grammar concepts in their own words to further individual comprehension of the material.
  • Connects grammar and writing in the introduction to each chapter and in the many skill exercises in the context of paragraphs and essays.
