PEARSON HIGHER EDUCATION IS COMMITTED to supporting the preservation efforts of our literary landmarks. The homes where historic authors lived and worked provide a unique opportunity to promote our literary heritage. Maintaining these sites as functioning museums, however, is a difficult and expensive task. Recently, the homes of Herman Melville, Mark Twain and Edith Wharton have all suffered from financial troubles and may soon be forced to close their doors to the public.
By packaging a Longman literature text with a Penguin novel, you can join Pearson in the challenge to save our literary landmarks. We will donate $1 to the home of your choice, for every value pack ordered by your bookstore. We will also enter participating instructors in a raffle to win a weekend excursion to these historic homes in June 2009. Pearson will provide transportation, food, and lodging for five winners and their guests. The Melville and Wharton homes are located in the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts and Twain’s house is located in Hartford, Connecticut. Winners will be announced March 31, 2009.
