PHStat

PHStat is software that you use with Microsoft Excel to help build solutions to statistical problems. With PHStat, you can focus on learning statistics as you perform many types of statistical analyses using Excel.

The current version of PHStat requires Microsoft Excel for Microsoft 365 Excel app, a subscription product for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel for Mac, a subscription product for MacOS, or the current non-subscription version of Microsoft Office.

PHStat is also compatible with older versions of Microsoft Office that receive full, mainstream support from Microsoft. PHStat is not compatible with online or mobile versions of Excel, although PHStat worksheet solutions will be viewable in those versions.

Instructors: To bundle PHStat with your Pearson text, or to get instructor access, contact your local Pearson representative.

Step 2: Download PHStat

Once you've registered and signed in, visit the PHStat download page and download the zip archive file that contains the PHStat files. After downloading completes, expand the zip archive into a new folder.

Step 3: Using PHStat

With Excel open, use the (File) Open dialog box to open the PHStat.xlam file. As PHStat begins to load, Excel displays a security warning message that discusses macros. Click Enable Macros to enable PHStat to be opened and loaded. If you are using Microsoft Windows Excel and "nothing" happens when you open the PHStat file, first review the Section 2 instructions to make sure your system contains the proper security settings.

When successfully loaded, PHStat adds a PHStat tab to the Office Ribbon. This tab contains pull-down lists and buttons through which individual PHStat procedures are selected. In Microsoft Windows Excels, PHStat also adds the "classic" PHStat pull-down menu to the Add-Ins tab, as a second, alternate way to select individual PHStat procedures.
