Over the years, we have heard many great ideas for teaching from the instructors with whom we have had contact, and we have heard others tell us that they love hearing what their colleagues are doing to make their courses the most interesting and interactive they can be.
The Great Ideas! in Teaching newsletters are compilations of some of your colleagues‘ best teaching ideas from the classroom. We think that by highlighting select ideas, publishing them in a handy newsletter, and sharing them with you, we can help "share the wealth" and make sure you have access to the best ideas possible, whether you teach in an urban or rural setting, or at a 4-year or 2-year institution.
Clearly, an 8-page newsletter cannot contain every great idea that is currently in use. Nevertheless, we think it's a good place to start and trust that you will too. The articles were chosen because they illustrate a creative teaching topic, or provide a solution to a common teaching problem. In addition, the author of each article has provided their e-mail address—feel free to contact them directly with any additional questions you may have regarding their particular teaching strategy.
We will produce this newsletter about once per year per discipline. We hope you find these issues to be a valuable resource for your teaching now, and for years come. May our partnership in higher education grow stronger.
